Hi, my name is Gaby, I am a junior here at Russell Sage College. I am a history major with a minor in sociology. I play on the softball team and I'm also the Student Body President. Yes, college is about academics. We're all here to earn that paper. But at Russell Sage, we also care about the vibe check. And that's for our students and our employees.
A strong community is a community that cares about wellness. It's why we have Thrive at Russell Sage Thrive looks at people not just as students or college employees, but as a whole people. And whole people are always better than half people.
Thrive isn't just a program. We think about wellness and everything we do. It's tied into our classes and into our Student Life programs. We even put symbols on event posters to show which dimensions of wellness the events cover. But more on that later. Yes, more suspense.
Thrive that Russell Sage promotes respect for yourself, for others, and the global environment because we can't be well until we live on a healthier planet and in a world where everyone has equity and the space to be themselves. All of this ties back to our college moto. Be. Know. Do. And Russell Sage College believes in all this stuff so much,it was one of the early signers of the Okanagan Charter an international charter for health promoting colleges and universities. Tawana, what am I forgetting? How will students experience Thrive?
Thrive brings world-renowned speakers to Sage, enhances the curriculum, and provides various avenues to meet physical and mental health goals. Be on the lookout for signature events like "Fresh Check Day," "Color Run," "Campus Book Reads," and hikes. Underneath it all are the eight dimensions of wellness.
What's that?
Basically it's a way to do a vibe check. Wellness has eight dimensions: emotional, physical, occupational, social, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, and financial. If you don't pay attention to any of these dimensions, it can throw your whole game off impacting your health and well being. How are your eight dimensions?
I've got a solid five.
That's awesome. It sounds like you're well on your way and we can make some goals to get the other three.
