Hi, my name is Jaylen Crevass. I'm a junior here at Russell Sage. I am a business major and I'm also on the baseball team. Things in life to just make sense: flannel shirts in fall, therapy dogs visiting campus during finals, a Gator mascot for a school in New York. Oh wait, that doesn't make any sense. Sorry Chompers! We love you anyway!
College, it makes a lot of sense. It's an investment in you and your future. It's a place to work toward your career goals, grow as a person, and develop friendships that will last your whole life. It can also feel really complicated. It's a whole new world with a certain way of doing things. And, sometimes, those things like the work you're doing in your classes, and what you do outside your classes to have fun, grow, or take care of yourself don't feel connected.
That's why we created the Gator Gateway. It's an undergraduate experience designed to bring everything in college together in a way that helps students to be successful in school and to be prepared for life after college. The Gator Gateway includes a team of people who will support you along the way. We call them "Navigators," "Gator Guides," and "Faculty Advisors," a one-stop-shop called, "Solutions." So you know where to go when you have a question or need something.
No having to send an email or run around from office-to-office. Required gen ed classes that build up your resume for when you graduate and help you navigate college in life. College courses that are hands on and make you excited to learn. And they even sometimes give you the opportunity to help people in the community.
A Career and Self-Discovery Center that connects you with internships and jobs and guides you and learning about yourself and finding your true passion. And a wellness and well being initiative called, "Thrive at Russell Sage." Because that degree you're going to earn isn't the only thing you need to be successful in life. Feeling good and knowing what to do when you don't matters too. And that makes a lot of sense. Doesn't it Chompers?
