    Historic Downtown Troy

Charming and historic, Troy offers a lively downtown with intimate cafes, unique shops and so many great places to eat. There’s also plenty of live music and entertainment for students to enjoy all within walking distance from campus

Troy, NY- #EnjoyTroy! Check out the happenings in Troy. And don’t hesitate to ask a Sage student about their favorite Troy eatery or shop!

Both of the Russell Sage college campuses are in walkable, diverse neighborhoods with a lot to do for fun. I'm here to show you around downtown Troy. Steps from campus, student-friendly downtown Troy has great shopping, a different independent coffee shop for every day of the week, and a lot of places to meet up with friends or treat yourself from a cold pressed juice bar to a board game cafe.

Many of the locally-owned businesses in Troy offer student discounts. Just show your RSCID anywhere you see the student incentive program decal. Troy is known for a thriving art scene and its newest public art project, a block party and outdoor mural gallery called, "Troy Art Block" was named Best New festival by USA Today in 2024.

You also won't want to miss the year-round Troy waterfront farmers market with 100 vendors offering organic and local products. There are always musicians performing too. "Troy Night Out," a monthly celebration of the arts with free or inexpensive special events throughout the city. "Rockin on the River," the outdoor concert series on the Hudson waterfront that attracts 1,000s to downtown Troy.

There are also a lot of other festivals throughout the year with bands, food trucks, and vendors. There's a yoga studio near campus plus a waterfront path for walking, running, or biking. And you can borrow a bike from the local bike share program for free with your student ID. Keep watching to learn about our Albany neighborhood. Frequent shuttles between the campuses make the resources on and near each campus accessible to all Sage students. And your student ID also works as a local bus pass making it easy to get anywhere in New York's Capital Region.
